They need support and healthy ways to cope with the crisis.

Your young adult is just starting college but they are struggling with their independence and confidence. One minute they need you like their child again, desperately seeking advice, support and comfort of home. The next, they are pushing you out, needing space, wanting to just live their own lives. You are torn between wanting them to be supported and nurtured and wanting them to face the world.

Perhaps you struggle to provide for your family while still meeting your own needs. Maybe your own needs often get overlooked, or pushed aside in sacrifice for everyone else. Maybe it’s time to create better boundaries, to cultivate self-compassion, and to work on finding who you truly are.
